MISSION AND VISION
Mission: To equip young people with the tools they need to excel as they acknowledge the talents they have been blessed with, and to encourage them to start using those talents to bless others in the community and the world by pointing them to the right organizations and training them in standardized exams and leadership skills.
Vision: To see the young people here and beyond rise up and start addressing the challenges facing our world. To develop leaders who will teach others the importance of integrity and service. Encourage those who are willing to learn to excel by providing the resources which they need to excel.
Here, at the Institute of Learning, one of our goals is to further the knowledge of our generation inside and outside the classroom.
How can we do this? Well, it starts with finding a practical love of the subject. This may be math, science, reading, cooking, social work, arts, music or any other passion. One of the many ways this will happen is with Job Shadowing Program.
The student shadows someone (doctor, engineer, dentist, hair specialist, professor, high school teacher, etc.) for about 5 days to truly see if that career is what they thought it was. The shadowing process will simply give the student an idea of what happens within that profession.
This might help to determine if they are suited for that particular career. We understand that sometimes people need time to grow and discover more talents, however shadowing could help in the process. The next thing we do is prepare them for the ACT and/or the SAT. We will help them with training in math, reading, writing, and science. This will help the students get very good scores so they can apply for full scholarships. Full scholarships do not depend on grades alone so we will provide volunteer opportunities and extra-curricular activities for the student.
Also we plan to help the students decide which college is best for them. Sometimes students might need to go to an art institute or a music institute. We want students to start thinking about what career they want to make an impact in as early as 7th grade. We want to help the students discover the talents that they have been blessed with. We also want to help them develop those talents. Eventually we want the students to go into careers that they love and make an impact for the right reasons. It is not about the money or the fame. It is about the impact they make in the lives of others and the Institute of Learning seeks to show students ways that they can make an impact.
